Which vegetable oil should I pick for my homemade hair care?
Our homemade hair mask recipes are mostly made with ingredients you already have at home. Banana, honey, yogurt… and vegetable oil! And as the choice of this oil depends on the nature of your hair, it will have to be chosen with care:
- Coconut oil – a true all-purpose oil, coconut oil is suitable for all hair types!
- Olive oil – perfect for normal hair, but also for repairing dry hair, olive oil will also enhance curly and frizzy hair without weighing it down;
- Castor oil – nourishing, it promotes hair growth and is therefore suitable for fine and fragile hair;
- Argan oil – nourishing and protective, argan oil deeply regenerates the hair and helps it fight against external aggressions;
- Avocado oil – revitalizing, highly moisturizing, and softening, avocado oil is a strong ally against tangled hair;
- Jojoba oil – is low-greasy and regulating, it is ideal for oily or easily greasy hair and scalp.
Easy DIY hair mask recipes
Because the best tips are often the simplest, know that a vegetable oil bath can work miracles on your hair! Once a month, or a week if you have very dry or curly hair, apply the vegetable oil of your choice to your lengths and leave it on for at least 30 minutes before shampoo.
And since vegetable oil is natural and pure, you can even leave it in your hair for several hours or even overnight for deep hydration and nourished strong hair.

DIY mask for dry hair
Is your hair tired, dull, and lacking shine? Do not panic! With this natural and homemade mask, you will restore all their shine and vitality.
Indeed, the vegetable oil will deeply hydrate them while the egg yolk will take care making them shine. Particularly rich in vitamins and minerals, egg yolk also has anti-dandruff properties.
In a bowl, combine the following ingredients:

- 1 egg yolk;
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

DIY mask for blonde hair

In a bowl, combine the following ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of honey, preferably organic;
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice;
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of lukewarm water if needed to obtain the right texture.

DIY mask for thirsty hair

- 2 tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel;

- 1 mashed ripe banana;

- 1 natural yogurt, preferably organic;

- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil for normal hair or 1 tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel for oily hair.
Apply the mask to your scalp and massage gently with your fingertips. Leave on for 30 minutes before shampoo.
DIY mask to boost hair growth
Do you dream of long mermaid hair, but your hair no longer wants to grow? This homemade mask is made for you! Castor oil has been known and used for centuries for its benefits in hair growth.
Indeed, it stimulates their growth and strengthens them. In this mask, you will also find mustard vegetable oil, which will also make your hair stronger and prevent hair loss.
Finally, grapefruit essential oil also helps fight hair loss, while rosemary cineole essential oil will stimulate the growth of your hair and help you see new ones grow.
In a bowl, combine the following ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of castor oil;
- 1 half tablespoon of mustard oil;
- 3 drops of Grapefruit or Rosemary EO with Cineole.
Spread the mask to your scalp, massaging gently with your fingertips to stimulate blood microcirculation. Then cover your head with a towel or a charlotte to let the heat do its work and leave for 1 hour before shampooing.
